Fat Boy Biking - Est. 2008
Fat Boy Biking started out as a joke but after all the comments we have been given at the Century Bike Rides we thought we could turn the joke into something special.
My name is Leo Mendelsohn and I am one of the original Fat Boy Bikers. I consider myself a commuter biker still training for that huge bike race. I completed the Chico Mild Flower and now have my goal set for the Chico Wild Flower in 2010.
My goal is to ride to work at least 3 days a week. Yes I know that is a large goal but even if we make it half the time think of all the calories we are burning. That would mean I could eat more food. Besides it is good for the environment.
Half of our members teach at Dilworth Middle School. We won the Bike to Work Contest among all the Washoe County Schools with twelve riders last year. Our goal is to get that number to 25 bike riders this year.
My first mission as President was to host the first Fat Boy Biking Poker Run on September 12, 2009. As a group we reached that goal and raised over $2,200 for Dilworth Middle School. We had over 110 riders and with the support of the community we had a great time for a good cause. Now we are looking at trying to raise $3,000 and having over 200 riders at our next Poker Run on May 1, 2010.

The second mission is to have this site promote other bike rides, small to large, and have as many people as possible bike to work. Membership is free right now. All you have to do is apply on the membership page. The more of us biking to work the better off the enviroment will be and if you are like me, the more you can enjoy your food.
You do not have to be fat or even a male to join. I want you to join because you bike or are thinking about taking up biking. If you are running an event please join us by becoming a member and then we will place your event on our site.
