Fat Boy Mile Trackers

There are several out there. I have formed Fat Boy Biking Groups on these two.

Daily Mile:
I like this because you can tally all your rides - big or small. Also you can find other routes people are putting in. As soon as you put your route in - this takes a few minutes - you can always just check the route when you ride it again. If you are a runner-walker- you can track those miles too.

After joining Daily Mile - Click on Groups and type in: fat boy biking and then click JOIN!

RTC GREENRIDE:

This one is also a great tool. It is simple and easy to use. This is for commuting to work only - which is the main goal of Fat Boy Biking. I like this because all you have to do is put in your home address and work address and you are done. Also you can find other people who are biking near you. An added bonus is that you can try to set up a carpool for those days you will not be able to ride.

RTC also provides a calculator page that will give you your miles, money saved, calories burned, and carbon monoxide emissions that you are saving.

Sign up only takes a few minutes. After joining RTC GREENRIDE - join our group, join Washoe County School District, or maybe your work place is listed - if not you can be the leader and start your own group. It does not matter who you join up with, just join and start tracking your commute.

I will leave this up on future newsletters so new members know where to go. After this edition it will always be at the bottom of the news letter.

7 Bike-Friendly Coastal Campgrounds

By Jesse Hammond Active.com

Summertime is beach season. But it's also a great time to ride your bike. Add camping and you've got a trip that just screams "long weekend."

Whether you're packing up the panniers for a self-guided bike tour, craving some sunshine after singletrack riding or on a quest for some quality time with the family, check out these seven beach-side camping destinations.

CA Highway 1 Half Moon Bay State Beach Half Moon Bay, California
Located about 30 miles south of San Francisco, this four-mile stretch of beach may be more famous for surfing than cycling, but its location on Highway 1 makes it an ideal stop for cyclists touring the California coastline.

Oregon Sunset Astoria/Seaside KOA Hammond, Oregon
A century ride away from bike-loving Portland, this campground lies in the northwestern-most corner of Oregon. Rather drive? This KOA offers bike rentals—in addition to mini golf, hot tubs and homemade fudge.

These were the only two on the west coast - but they made the top of the list - to read more visit click here.

Event Reviews:

Churchill Poker Run - was a good time. There was no beer on the run but if your riding 37 miles then maybe there should be no beer. Course was very flat and easy to navigate. I have mapped it on Daily Mile.

Support was awesome, fire-rescue truck every 3 miles. I ended up with two pair and no money - the $200 winner had 3 Aces. Another Fat Boy member won the best raffle prize, Free stay at the Squaw Valley Resort.
