Are You Biking To Work? FatBoyz ContentBack On the Bike
Back on the BikeI have to apologize, I have dropped the ball on the newsletter and I am sorry about that. For those who do not know I had a death in the family and we have struggled to keep up with a lot of things, this being one of them.So as a new year starts so does my endeavor to get back in shape, ride to work and get our group of riders back on the bike. Hope you all understand and continue to read this ezine and ride your bike as much as possible. May 1, 2010 - Fat Boy Poker RunRegistration is now open online at Active.com and on our Website. Early registration is only $12. If you register the day of the event the cost will be $20. Please register early and help spread the word. We are thinking about offering a prize to the one who refers the most people to the event.Last year we had over 100 riders and we were able to donate over $2,000 to Dilworth Middle School. The goal this May is to have 200 plus riders and to raise $3,000 for the school.
Active.com ReviewsI would like to ask for some help and it will only take a minute. If you participated in the Poker Run last year could you please go to Fat Boy Biking Poker Run Reviews and put in a review of the event. I think if people read some reviews that it will help persuade them to join us this May. I know this is a local event but last year we had eight people from out of state join us on our Poker Run. Thanks in advance for your help!
May 21, 2010 - Bike to Work DayIt is not too early to start thinking about the Bike to Work Day. Last year we had 12 staff members at Dilworth ride their bike to work. I am hoping this number increases to 20 plus this year.As a member of Fat Boy Biking I will be collecting names of all participants who bike to work that day. I am hoping that we can reach 50 members riding their bike on May 21st. I know some of you live far away from work. A way to help the environment, get in shape, and to count as a rider that day here are some suggestions. Bike to work and have someone pick you up. Drive half way - park your automobile and bike the rest of the way. So with that said, I will give out information about how to sign up for this event as soon as I get it all together. Chico Wildflower - April 26, 2010There are a few of us going to this event. This is an awesome biking adventure. Rides range from 65 to 100 miles in the hills to 15 to 60 miles on the flat land. Early Registration is suggested and that is not a joke. Last year I was stupid enough to wait till the day of the event and they would not let me register because the event was full. I still rode the race but if I had problem or wanted some refreshments - I was on my own. What makes this such an adventure? Last year registration was full which is unbelievable when you consider that they had 3,500 registered riders and I know of at least one who biked it on his own. 3,500 people on a bike in one area, all starting within two hours of each other was a great sight. If you are interested in car pooling let me know. Some of us are looking at driving down the morning of and staying there Sunday night. Some of us are looking at going down the day before and coming back after the race. For more information: Chico Wildflower - April 26, 2010
Reno-Tahoe Odyssey - June 4, 2010We won't be biking here but this should prove interesting because I am not a runner and well I have not run more than one mile at a time in over a year. I have my work cut out. Chris, fat boy member, has put together a team from Dilworth and for whatever reason I signed up. Sounds like fun or torture? For more information: Reno-Tahoe Odyssey |
