Reno-Tahoe Odyssey - June 4, 2010

Saturday April 3rd - 7 AM

Nice Ride yesterday on the path. A bit brisk but nice way to start the day. Next week Saturday April 3rd we are going to meet at Reno High again. This time we will go the other way to Mayberry park ( around 12 miles round trip - slightly uphill out there but not too bad ). Hope you can join us. We hope to leave by 7 am.

Hey Blockhead - did you hear that? 7 AM !!

We had 10 of us yesterday and we were a little spread out - mainly a nice easy pace. So if you are just starting this next ride will be another nice easy pace ride.

April 10th we will go do the Verdi Loop (around 24 miles with some hills). This is a little more difficult. I think on the 10th we will take it nice and easy because we can. I would like to go out to Verdi on the 17th at a faster pace to get ready for Chico. Of course this comes from a man that does not ride that fast. So the main difference would be the 10th I would like us not to get too spread out so the beginners do not fall too far behind. Then on the 17th let everyone go at their own pace - does this make sense? Let me know what you think.

This was a great ride! It was well organized, had friendly riders, and a relaxed ride for a great donation. I can't wait for this year's ride to be even bigger!

If you participated in the Poker Run last year could you please go to Fat Boy Biking Poker Run Reviews and put in a review of the event. I think if people read some reviews that it will help persuade them to join us this May. I know this is a local event but last year we had eight people from out of state join us on our Poker Run.

May 21, 2010 - Bike to Work Day

This looks like a week long event. I will try to get our group in and promote this as we get closer.

Chico Wildflower - April 26, 2010

We have two rooms reserved. I know three of us are going as a group. Others have said they are going but getting their own accommodations. If you do go wear your fat boy shirt from the poker run to promote our ride.

There are a few of us going to this event. This is an awesome biking adventure. Rides range from 65 to 100 miles in the hills to 15 to 60 miles on the flat land. Early Registration is suggested and that is not a joke. Last year I was stupid enough to wait till the day of the event and they would not let me register because the event was full. I still rode the race but if I had problem or wanted some refreshments - I was on my own.

What makes this such an adventure? Last year registration was full which is unbelievable when you consider that they had 3,500 registered riders and I know of at least one who biked it on his own.

3,500 people on a bike in one area, all starting within two hours of each other was a great sight.

If you are interested in car pooling let me know. Some of us are looking at driving down the morning of and staying there Sunday night. Some of us are looking at going down the day before and coming back after the race. Right now we have five going. Maybe more!

Reno-Tahoe Odyssey - June 4, 2010

Chris has set up a page for donations for this event. He is also having team runs on Sundays. I have not participated yet because the team runs are six miles and my fat ass is only up to 2 miles. I think Chris is worried that I will not be ready. Hey Chris, I will be ready. Need to lose 10 more pounds before I start pounding the pavement over 20 minutes at a time.
