Fat Boy Saturday Bike Ride April 17th

What a great Saturday bike ride. Ten people showed to enjoy the nice weather. Of course I forgot the names of the two new guys but I did give one of them a new name - BMXer - the dude rode 26-28 miles on a small BMX - one gear bike. No typos, the man - and he is not a small guy - rode the whole damn Verdi loop on that small bike. I take my hat off to him.

Rik without the C was also with us along with some other regular riders. Had some tech problems so it was a bit bumpy as far as timing. My better half was with us and she took advantage of the flat tire break and went back early. Lost Block Head off the Cliff View street - he must have had some where to go. Everyone else rode the entire ride. I am old because I was a bit tired after the ride.

This Saturday we will once again meet at Reno High at 7:30 am. Going to take it easy with the Chico Ride looming ahead. We will go through downtown Reno to the bike path. Ride the path to the end and loop back. This will be about 16 miles. Some will pack it up then and go home while some of us will go to Mayberry Park and back - adding 12 more miles to the trip. This is all pretty flat.

On Sunday I am going to meet with Chris out in the Double Diamond area and do some interval workout on the bike. No set time yet so if you are interested give me a call on Friday (544-9273) or talk to me on Saturday. I will be out of town Mon-Thurs.

Poker Run Bars

Establishments that are participating are:

Oski's Pub and Grille:
This is where it all starts and of course we will finish here too. Great atmosphere, prices are very reasonable, and on Saturday they have $5 Cheeseburger specials. Registration will be run by myself and others. Jan will be selling raffle tickets while Jeff might ride or he will be in charge of the Poker Cards. Get your card before you leave on the run.

Rail City Ale House.
The stop before you get on the river or on your way back to O'Skis. The best Fries in town. We will be set up on the Patio outside the Ale House - It faces Kietzke. Go to the farthest parking lot - right before Kietzke. Peter really took care of us last year and I am sure he will have something going on this time around too. Meagan and a player to be named later will be handing out the cards.

Amendment 21 Grill & Sports Bar:
One of the stops in Reno. One of my favorite places to go before a Wolf Pack game. Mike always has something going on and the food is awesome! Martha and Melody will be handing out the cards for us.

Bertha Miranda's Mexican Restaurant and Cantina:.
This is our new stop this year. The best Mexican food in the area. Love the Nachos. Cold Modello on tap. Amanda and Block Head will be handing out the cards for us on the front patio.

Imperial Bar and Lounge:
Great location near the river. I am too old but from what I hear this place rocks at night - I go to bed at 9 pm. I like it because of the location and it is really a great set-up inside. Huge TV's - Pool Tables and the best thin crust Pizza you will ever have. Too many beers on tap to list. Some great pictures were taken here last year that did not make the web pages. Sarah and a player to be named later will be handing out cards there. FYI - I told Sarah that some of the riders buy the volunteers a beverage or two.

Chico Wildflower - April 25, 2010

I think we have 8 going over for the ride. Rik and his group, as are Barb and her group are going over Saturday. The dumb people - Fatty - Asshole-Block Head are leaving Sunday at 3 am. We hope to survive the ride and would tell you that we will eat and drink all night. If I was a betting man I say that I will be sleeping by 8 pm. Heck I am a betting man - lay the juice and take the under 8 pm curfew.
