Bike to Work Week

In case you forgot, Bike to Work Week started Saturday and goes through Friday. If you haven't already signed up as an individual or a business you can do so at www.bikenevada.org. Ditch the car and hop on a bike. Help make this a record year in the number of bikers and show that bicycling is a great form of transportation which should be fully embraced. Just Bike It!

Team Knight Nation (Dilworth Middle School) has 28 out of 44 people signed up to bike at least once this week. It is easy to sign up - takes 30 seconds!

We have two plan rides - Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday we are having coffee and donuts at 7 am @ Dilworth for all Team Knight Nation riders.

Friday some of us are meeting at Java Jungle - downtown Reno - at 6 am for coffee before riding to school. Another group is meeting at Cosmic Coffee at 6:30 am before riding to school.

Friday after work some of us - I hope all of us - are planning to bike over to O'Skis for a colder drink. From the Knight Nation I send out an invitation to meet us at O'Skis - between 2:30 - 4 or 5 pm.

Saturday Party

BIke to Work Week will be announcing the winners of the commuter challenge this Saturday at the West Street Market (downtown Reno) sometime between 12 and 2. There will be lots of bike groups showing their stuff, raffle prizes, the X radio. Come and check it out.

I am hoping the Knight Nation is in the running. I wanted to register a team for Fat Boy Biking but they said they do not let clubs sign up.

Sunday Ride

Going out Sunday (May 23rd) at 7:30 am. If interested meet at Reno High on Booth street. I have no plans which way we will go so I guess we can decide that morning. I am thinking about organizing a ride in the upcoming weeks that would start later and maybe end in lunch somewhere. If interested let me know.

Reno-Tahoe Odyssey

June 4th is almost here. I did not get my 20 miles in but I got 17 miles in with the longest being a 4 mile run in 44 minutes. I am slow. I hope my team does not expect to compete for the fastest time. If they do they need to sub in for me.

I have been running with the five finger shoes every other day. Friday my feet were burning. Never thought about it but not wearing socks does make a difference when the temp goes up.
