| Just Bike It! Recap
Recap of Last MonthBusy Month - My daughter graduated from high school - participated in the, Bike to Work Week, Reno Tahoe Odyssey and Fallon Poker Ride.I have not updated the web site and fell behind on the newsletter but I have been working. I should have everything updated by the end of the week. The RTO was awesome. I ran the easiest leg(s) #1 with two flat runs and one medium run. I had a great time and if you have ever thought about participating - go for it - a great sense of accomplishment when finished. Moler and I went to fallon for their 30 mile poker ride. I don't understand how they get 300 plus riders for the No Hill Hundred but only 30 to 40 riders for this event. It was a nice easy ride. Moler and I cruised and talked about our plan of attack to get the Fat Boy Poker Ride ready for the fall. Summer RidesI am going to start some group rides in July. I have burnt both sides of the candle the past 6 weeks and need to stay at home. I have been riding but no set plans so I go when I can go. I am going to hook up with Tony and ride Red Rock sometime soon. After he takes me out on the course I will let you know how easy or hard it is. Possible group ride to follow. So expect a letter in one to two weeks with information on the next group ride. Tour of the Carson Valley - Barbecue & Ice Cream Social is coming up. Rode this two years ago but not able to attend this year. Mild hills - mostly flat. If you get a chance to ride - please send information after the ride. Thinking about participating in the Somersett Sierra Challenge - Ride to Defeat ALS - Saturday, August 21, 2010. Benefit cycling event. Three ride routes, food, & entertainment. Sponsor packages available. Will keep you posted. If interested in riding as a team let me know.
Tour De NezStarts Thursday. I heard there was going to be a messenger race and thought about giving that a try. Went to web site and could not find any information. So I am on hold on this. I might go down Thursday and ask for information or wait until information is in the paper. Thought this would be a fun race to try.September Fat Boy Poker RunMeeting this week with City of Sparks to discuss what we need to do to close Victorian Ave for our ride. I would like to close Victorian next May and have sponsors set up tents and have different venues set up.Meeting with Reno Bike Project later this week to discuss the extension of our Poker Run. We will keep the 10 mile Poker Run (looking at adding 2 more bars) but want to offer a 30 mile fully supported ride before the Poker Run for the people that want to get a workout before hitting the bars. Besides - with Reno Bike Project involved we will be able to draw more people into the ride. Lastly - Fat Boy Biking is not set up as a Non-Profit Org yet. I have to get this going - does anyone know how to do this? It has been easy to just give all the money and receipts to Dilworth Middle School but now we are going to expand and give portions of the money to Reno Bike Project, Dilworth, and set up an WCSD fund for Athletes who need help paying for their activity fees. So I will be working on that the next few weeks. |
