Fat Boy Biking started out as a joke but after all the comments we have been given at the Century Bike Rides we thought we could turn the joke into something special.

Our mission is to gives back to the community through biking. We will host two poker runs ever year in May and September. All proceeds from the poker runs will be divided up and dispersed to WCSD and Reno Bike Project.

Reno Bike Project will be running the longer Poker Ride out to Verdi. This will be a fully supported ride with two rest stops. On the way back into town you will join the 10 mile Poker Run with all the regular stops.

Our secondary mission as a group is to have this site promote other bike rides, small to large, and have as many people as possible bike to work. Membership will always be free. All you have to do is apply on the membership page. The more of us biking to work the better off the environment will be and if you are like me, the more you can enjoy your food. I have struggled to keep this part up but will continue to keep this as a mission.

You do not have to be fat or even a male to join. I want you to join because you bike or are thinking about taking up biking. If you are running an event please join us by becoming a member and then we will place your event on our site.

My name is Leo Mendelsohn and I am one of the original Fat Boy Bikers. I consider myself a commuter biker still training for that huge bike race.

Most of the original members of Fat Boy Biking teach or taught at Dilworth Middle School. In 2010 Dilworth Middle School won the Bicycle Commuter Challenge sponsored by Truckee Meadows Bicycle Alliance. We had 29 staff members ride at least once during Bike to Work Week. The year before We won the Bike to Work Contest among all the Washoe County Schools with twelve riders.
